Reflection and Change

If you would have told me five years ago that I would be living in Austin and making it… I would have laughed. Believing in myself is not something that I’ve ever done but I’m many miles from home and doing well. Sometimes I am still baffled about how I got here… but I’m here.

In the rush of things I’ve kinda lost myself. Not that I’m unhappy with my life here but really unhappy with how I’ve stopped taking care of myself. So I’m making myself some goals and changing things about the way I live. Made a trip last night to Central Market and stocked up on some healthier food options. Another goal is to be more active so I made a calendar of various activities to partake in 4 times a week. This won’t be easy but I want to get back to liking the skin I’m in again. Wish me luck…

Found on Digg:

The 3G iPhone will be announced June 9, the likely date of Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ keynote at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference, analysts said in research notes on Thursday.

The 3G iPhone will be the “first of an impressive wave of new products” from Apple, wrote Citi analysts Richard Gardner and Yeechang Lee. They also expect an updated Mac laptop and iPod lines. The Apple conference is scheduled for June 9-13 in San Francisco.

Tired

Have you ever been so tired that you can’t sleep. Then when you do get sleepy and lay down you wake up like every hour. So annoying. Needless to say this has contributed to my lack of posting but I’ll get back on it tomorrow. Right now, it’s time for sleep… hopefully.

New Orleans - 1 … Dallas - 0

Tonight the Hornets won the first game of the series against the Mavericks. In a heated game that included multiple technical fouls, Chris Paul once again wowed us all. After shaking the jiggers in the first half, the Hornets came back and outscored them 64-40 in the final 24 minutes. A few game notes from the Playoff Blog:

- The Mavs scored just twice on their first 13 possessions of the fourth quarter. It was a 15-4 run for the Hornets to start the period and that put ‘em away right there.

- After shooting 10-for-21 (.476) in the first quarter, the Mavs shot 16-for-57 (.281) the rest of the way. That’s pretty bad.

- The Hornets had just eight turnovers for the game.

- Jason Kidd finished just one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double, but his presence just wasn’t felt enough. Trying to guard Paul probably takes a lot out of him.

- Obviously, Chris Paul was brilliant, finishing with 35 points on 15-of-23, and 10 dimes. He had 24 points and seven assists in the second half.

Can’t wait to watch the rest of this series… GO HORNETS!

Cord Issues?

Just in time for spring cleaning. Get your cords in order. This great idea comes from Lifehacker:

If you already liked the original CD/DVD spindle cable organizer, a creative user from DIY web site Instructables has taken it to the next level, cutting a couple of slots in the organizer and using it to conceal desktop cable clutter. We’re no strangers to the cordless workspace around here, but this is easily another great option to add to our already extensive list of the top 10 ways to get cables under control. Even better, assuming you’ve got an unused spindle or two, this method won’t cost a dime.

I might as well disable them since no one leaves any.

Story of the Day: Kid Breaks Vacuum to Play Xbox Instead of Doing Chores; Mom Sells Xbox, Pranks His MySpace

Another great story from Gizmodo:

My 13 year old managed to break the vacuum….thinking it would release him from that duty. He also has a list of other chores that were TYPED up for him to do Friday afternoon….one thing on the list was done…mind you these are simple things…empty the trash, clean your room, etc. Then I go thru the cookies on his computer and find out he has been checking out porn sites. Now there is a password so he can’t even get on and his my-space page has a picture of snoopy on it now. Apparently I’m the meanest mom in the world, were his words.

I’m a single mom. I can’t let them walk over me or I might never get up.

Dude… single Mom’s know better… trust me.

Kats and Keyboards

While completing my daily visit to Gizmodo I came across this solution for cat owners. Although, it’s not getting the best reviews…

Our resident cat expert, Mark Wilson, tells me that cats will never go for this desktop cat bed. It’s not that it’s a bad idea—a clamp-on bed so your cat can sit close to your hands, but not close enough to mash keys on your keyboard—but it’s just impractical.

Still a cool idea but I don’t think it’s going to stop the occasional imming of gibberish when your cat cops a squat on the corner of the keyboard.
